SOPSEC with Saraiva + Associados won an international competition and was responsible for the design and supervision of the project. It is a bold building in architectural terms, with 3 floors partially buried and 2 floors above ground; the building has a balanced cover and a “skin” on the facades that distinguishes it architecturally. There are parking areas, supermarket and “ancora” stores and food court. The main challenges were structurally related to the seismic risk and geotechnical complexity of the site.
