Inserted in the double strategy of renewing the old stadium and taking advantage of the facility for EURO 2004, the project and the work was a challenge because the stadium was completely renovated, in the original place, keeping the pitch always in use. Unlike most other stadiums for EURO 2004, the cost of this work was mostly borne by the Club. The result is an urban stadium, very compact, with the bleachers very steep. The mentioned difficulties had obvious effects on the project, namely in the engineering designs in charge of SOPSEC, namely in solutions of foundations and containment, drainage and superstructure. Also under the guidance of SOPSEC the benches were subjected to load tests and dynamic comfort.
