SOPSEC won the public contest of ideas, jointly with the companies Pitágoras, (architecture) and Layout (facilities designs). SOPSEC has developed the projects of structures, plumbing, thermal, acoustic, fire safety,healthy and safety plans and waste management. The Academy arises from the intention of the Guimarães City Council to develop a high-performance, low-carbon building. This sports infrastructure is a reference as a landmark building in the area of sustainability, energy efficiency and innovation. Its exceptional performance allows the Sports Gymnastics Academy to integrate the range of constructive solutions that support the candidacy of the city of Guimarães to the European Green Capital. The building was certified in 2017 with the maximum class A ++ in the LiderA System. It is formed by two volumes: the body of the gymnasium and the body of the sports.
